The 2020 Julius Morgan Memorial Scholarship honors the inspiring life and accomplishments of the late Julius Morgan, who passed on December 27, 2019. Julius served 12 years in the US Air Force where he completed training as a computer technician then returned to Wisconsin where he obtained his degree in Marketing at Madison College and completed his bachelors degree in Business and Psychology at Edgewood College.
His career included work for the State Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations where he was the first African American programmer analyst. He also worked for Dane County; Madison Gas and Electric and the Milwaukee Area Technical College/Milwaukee Enterprise Center where he was director of entrepreneurial development. He was recruited out of retirement to consult for Community Enterprises of Greater Milwaukee.
Julius Morgan believed that education is the foundation for everything in life. He was interested in advancing education for all students, but especially for young men and women of color. WIF Founding Member Verona Morgan and the Morgan Family have established a permanent Endowment Fund with the Madison Community Foundation to honor Julius, and they asked Women in Focus to choose the recipient scholars.
